The Sims Online - Computer Online Game
The Sims Online Game Overview
Have you played Sims Online? The original Sims computer game, released in 2000, went on to be the most successful PC game
ever, selling over six million copies. This virtual reality game spawned seven expansion packs and a sequel, The Sims 2. A third version is
promised soon. The publisher, EA, also brought out a version for Microsoft Windows in 2002. Called The Sims Online, it is a
facility for playing with others, whereas the original game is single player only.
The game has become a permanent feature of the popular culture and continues to grow. The Sims Online has further encouraged
a community of users who like to share ideas and experiences about the virtual world. The game differs from others in that there is no one single
objective. It's not a platform game or an adventure game. The idea is to simulate everyday life in a normal suburban home. The characters, which
are pre-designed or can be created, have to be cared for in order to thrive. The player is responsible for their physical, social and financial
well being. Characters, if neglected, can become ill and die.
The Sims Online Tips and Advice
It is like what people do in the real world. They prepare meals, wash themselves and go to sleep. They can even start relationships and adopt
children. Bills have to be paid and so they need to go to work. Not earning money and being able to care for oneself and one's house will have
serious consequences. Gee talk about real life simulation! It's a pretty strict world in this virtual reality. Children who continually get
bad school grades are sent to military school, never to return. The choices are more limited in The Sims Online version, in
contrast to the single player ones. There is only a choice of three jobs that characters can take; a job in a robot factory, a nightclub or a
restaurant.
In addition to earning a living and attending school, the characters must have social contact and do activities that they enjoy. If this fails
to happen, they get depressed and their health is affected. They are programmed to interact with other characters and to watch television or
listen to the radio. Visitors can come to the house. A degree of self-determination exists for the Sims and they are free to ignore certain
instructions from the player or do things in a different order. Whether playing with the original format or enjoying the company of other players
on The Sims Online, players can act out their fantasies or try to reflect their own lives. It's worth remembering however, that
these are artificial people and none of it is real! But you might be surprised how you get attached to these virtual people and start calling
them by their names. Yes, but remember to stay in touch with reality.
